One week after their classic
mismatch in Baltimore, the two lords of the AFC North reversed their
fields. The Steelers were superb in mauling the hapless Seattle Seahawks.
The Ravens were hapless in losing to the Tennessee Titans.
Nothing is certain in the NFL.
There was no resemblance between the Steelers of last week and this
week. A lot of that had to do with the caliber of opposition. The
Seahawks had no answers for the Steelers. They were helpless against
the Steelers defense, incapable against the Steelers offense. The
result was a 24-0 win at Heinz Field.
The Ravens lost to the Tennessee Titans, 26-13, which leaves the
AFC North with four teams having 1-1 records. In other games, Cleveland
beat Indianapolis, 27-19, and Cincinnati lost to Denver, 24-22.
There was little to criticize in this lopsided victory. The Steelers
outgained Seattle, 421-164 and had 23 first downs to Seattle's eight.
The Seahawks were never in the game.
Ben Roethlisberger completed 22 of 30 passes for 298 yards and a
touchdown. His passer rating was 115.7. A week after catching eight
passes for 107 yards against the Ravens, wide receiver Mike Wallace
caught eight more today for 126 yards.
After seven turnovers against the Ravens last week, the Steelers
had none today.
The Steelers play Indianapolis, which is 0-2 without Peyton Manning,
next Sunday night at Indianapolis.
